FKM Students Become Facilitators in Disaster Response Subdistricts with BPBD DKI Jakarta

Students from the Faculty of Public Health , University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta (FKM MJ ) become facilitators for the community of the Disaster Response Subdistrict together with BPBD ( Regional Disaster Management Agency) DKI Jakarta, Monday-Thursday, 30 October to 2 November 2023. The students are Adipatra Kenaro and Dimas Imam Prayogo .

This activity, which was organized by the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), was carried out for the community and State Civil Apparatus in several areas of Tangguh Disaster Subdistrict. The subdistrict is Kel. East Cakung, Kel. Kampung Melayu, Kel. Petukangan Selatan & Kel. Cawang and 20 sub-districts spread across DKI Jakarta which have the potential to be vulnerable to disasters.

Guidance is carried out in order to face potential disasters in the DKI Jakarta area to support sub-district plans that have independent capabilities to be able to adapt and face the threat of disaster. Apart from that, people also have the ability to recover from the detrimental impacts of disasters, if they are affected by a disaster.

Socialization participants were invited to identify dangers and potential disaster risks accompanied by resource persons from Ready Indonesia Ujang Dede Lasmana and FKM UMJ students. The material provided in community development and assistance activities and state civil servants includes sub-district boundaries, disaster threats and the assessment of disaster-resilient sub-districts as well as 20 indicators for disaster-resilient sub-districts.

This activity was attended by the Head of the Prevention Affairs Subgroup, Village Staff, Tagana Dinsos, LMK, KSB, FKDM, RT Heads and RW Heads. Head of the Preparedness Section of the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Embay Suhaimi, Chair of the Preparedness Affairs Subgroup, DKI Jakarta BPBD Disaster Preparedness Staff, Chair of the DKI Jakarta BPBD Community and Institutional Empowerment Subgroup.

Embay Suhaimi explained that BPBD DKI Jakarta had mapped potential disaster vulnerabilities. Therefore, outreach and assistance to local officials is carried out so that resilience can be formed in facing disasters. BPBD DKI Jakarta routinely carries out outreach and assistance. According to Embay, more than 50 percent of DKI Jakarta residents understand the potential for disaster in their surroundings.

Adipatra and Dimas expressed their joy at being able to be involved in educational activities for the community. Dimas hopes that this activity can provide useful knowledge and knowledge for the community.

“Hopefully it will be useful for the community so that in the future it will not be easy to panic or rush in facing the dangers of natural disasters and in providing first aid for victims of natural disasters,” said Dimas.
